The Verbatim Store 'n' Save USB 3.0 Desktop Hard Drive offers high performance storage with a USB 3.0 SuperSpeed interface. USB 3.0 offers data transfer rates up to ten times faster than USB 2.0 (based on USB bus speed), allowing for lightning-fast data transfer on the go. The Store 'n' Save drive can be laid flat or on its side as required to take up as little space as possible on your desk. When you turn on the Store 'n' Save drive, the Verbatim Welcome screen appears*, which contains shortcuts to the software, user manuals, support information and your drive's directory. (* dependent on PC operating system you are running) USB 3.0 is fully compatible with USB 2.0. Hard drives under 2TB are formatted in FAT32 and are ready to use in Windows or Mac OS X. Hard drives larger than 2TB are formatted in NTFS, which is only compatible with Windows operating systems. Mac users will need to reformat the drive to HFS+ to make it fully compatible with Mac OS X operating systems. Formatting to HFS+ can be done using the Verbatim VHD Formatter included on the drive. The drive comes with Nero Backup* software pre-installed. This allows you to schedule, compress and encrypt your backups and ensure you never lose important files. In addition, Verbatim hard drives come with 'Green Button' power saving software. 'Green Button' stops the drive from spinning when not in use, increasing efficiency and saving energy. There are 3 sleep mode options. Suspend mode can be set after 10 minutes of use or in 10 minute increments up to 120 minutes. To stop the drive from spinning immediately, double-click the 'Green Button' icon on the desktop. Alternatively, you can set the drive to 'Never Suspend the disk'. * not compatible with Mac OS.
