Fire protection switches, arc fault protection devices (AFDD), reduce the risk of fire caused by defects in the electrical installation. They switch off the affected part of the system when serial and parallel arc faults occur. Fire protection switches are required in accordance with DIN0100-420 for bedrooms and common rooms in daycare centers, retirement homes and barrier-free apartments as well as in fire-prone premises. DAFDD 1 compactly combines the detection of arc faults with line and residual current protection. Contact position indicators and the residual current tripped indicator enable a quick overview. The RCBO part offers protection against type A residual currents as well as against short circuits and overloads, independent of the mains voltage. Switches with tripping characteristics B are the standard protection for light and socket circuits. Switches in KV design are less sensitive to short-term pulse-shaped residual currents due to their response delay. As storm-proof devices, they increase system availability and can generally be used instead of a standard switch, since the short-time delay has no influence on the additional protection (personal protection).
