RV4-1/260 is a varistor surge suppressor designed to reduce the maximum surge peak value and limit the high bias frequencies that occur when a contactor is operated in the control circuit. Opening a contactor coil can cause high voltage surges of several kV, which can cause interference and damage to sensitive electronics in the system. The RV4-1/260 can operate with a control voltage of 110 ... 260 V AC 50/60 Hz. The RV4 suppressor is mounted directly on the AFC contactor, either on top or bottom, and encloses the coil connection terminals. RV4 are specifically designed for AFC contactors or NFC relays.
