The short-circuit current limiters of the S800 series increase the short-circuit breaking capacity of the downstream switching devices. A distinction must be made between the SCL and the SCL-SR devices. The latter are self-resetting devices. The advantage of these self-resetting S800-SCL-SR short-circuit current limiters is that a continuous flow of current to all downstream switching devices is guaranteed, which simplifies group protection. Up to now, with the S800SCL devices, a separate short-circuit current limiter was used for each outgoing branch in order to be able to guarantee that all the others continue to work except for the faulty branch in the event of a fault. This is no longer necessary - you can now protect an entire group of motor protection switches / high-performance circuit breakers with just one S800-SCL-SR. Can only be used for approved combinations.
