Overview

Load break switches or main switches completely and across all poles separate electrical consumers or parts of the system from the electrical supply. They also switch under load or overload. They are used to switch off for maintenance work and to protect systems. The devices in the DHS 4 series are load break switches or main switches in a four-pole design in which the N contact is switched on leading and switched off lagging. Their design means they fit in perfectly with the appearance of the DFS residual current circuit breakers. DHS with EMERGENCY STOP function enable the connection of an EMERGENCY STOP device, such as a button. An integrated LED signals that the device has been triggered by an actuating element or by a broken wire. Re-switching is prevented until the problem is resolved. Properties: with EMERGENCY STOP function for triggering or switching off using actuating elements, monitoring of the EMERGENCY STOP function for wire breakage and display by an LED, high short-circuit strength and high switching capacity, double-sided double-deck terminals for large conductor cross-sections and busbars, switch position indicator, viewing window for labels, mounting type: quick attachment to mounting rail, installation position as desired, areas of application: particularly suitable for use in main distribution boards in widely spread power supplies, e.g. for campsites, marinas, allotments, showgrounds, etc., notes: in accordance with EN 60947-3, load switches, isolating switches and load-break switches are used in practice as main switches. The load switch must switch on, conduct and switch off currents under operating conditions in the circuit (including a specified operational overload). In the off position, no isolating function is required. A load switch is therefore not suitable for safe isolation in accordance with international installation regulations. Disconnectors must meet the relevant requirements for a disconnecting function when in the off position, but only currents of negligible magnitude need to be switched during operation. The combination of both designs is the load disconnector, which combines both properties and can therefore be used universally for safely disconnecting electrical systems.
