CIM communication module is an extension module for the LOGO! 8 logic module and combines several communication protocols in one device to save space. A 4-port switch for connecting additional devices via Ethernet is integrated in the housing, a Modbus RTU and TCP interface enables the connection of corresponding sensors. Also integrated are a SIM card slot (4G/LTE) and an mPCIe slot for 4G/LTE module engines. This enables communication with the AWS cloud, for example, even if there is no LAN infrastructure. The NTP function and the GPS receiver, which can be expanded via mPCIe, are the prerequisites for time synchronization and the acquisition of position data. In order to achieve full functionality, especially in the mobile communications sector, the CIM module can be expanded with antennas and a 4G/LTE engine. Tested engines are available for the frequency ranges of different regions, so that the module can be used almost globally.
