Separate air termination tip (for combining with connection terminals for steel supports, for example), for protecting open-space PV systems or carports with PV systems from direct lightning strikes, for example. The air termination tip is attached with simultaneous lightning current-carrying contact using two seam clamps, for example on the metal substructure of the PV modules. When mounting on the substructure, a distance of 15-20 cm between the two clamps and a free length of 80-85 cm must be taken into account. If mounted correctly, the mechanical strength and a lightning current carrying capacity of 100 kA (10/350 s) are ensured.
