The access point is used to connect the smartphone to the Homematic IP cloud and the Homematic IP devices. It forwards the settings and configuration data as well as the operating commands from the smartphone to the Homematic IP devices. The access point sends a particularly reliable IP radio protocol based on 868 MHz. It offers a high level of security thanks to comprehensive AES encryption and a server location in Germany. The access point is connected to a conventional router via a network cable.
